some how the summer passed by without me knowing fully and now I face the long cold months of winter in the not far off future. My blood quickens and I feel an unbidden urge to prepare for the dorment season. Clean my gardens of trash and foilage, put away my tools of summer and bring to the forefront my snow shovel and the like.
Inside, I feel the urge as well, heavier blankets on the bed, the putting away of summer clothes and the bringing out of warmer ones. To prepare. I, like the animals in the wild, still feel, even after all the centuries of civilization, those instinctual urges. I want to feel them, for to lose them would be to lose a vital part of being part of the earth.
